Masson sang 'Stay With Me', a success for Bette Midler and Duffy, inside a bid to stay in the show, battling from the boyband's version of 'I Do It for You'.

Melanie Masson was eliminated in the X Factor. The 44-year-old contestant had become the second act to depart the competition this year after she was put into the bottom two alongside District.

Masson sang ‘Stay With Me’, a success for Bette Midler and Duffy, inside a bid to stay in the show, battling from the boyband’s version of ‘I Do It for You‘.

However, she was eliminated following the judges failed to reach a big part decision and it visited Deadlock.

Turning to the judges following the contestants’ performances, presenter Dermot O’Leary asked them who they wish to send home.

Walsh said hello was “an amazing sing-off”, before voting in order to save his own act District3 and send Masson home.

Tulisa said the acts were “completely different – but both very talented” as well as voted to send home Masson.

Asked by X Factor presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs how she felt about leaving the show, Masson said: “I’m fine.

Flack and Murs then asked Barlow about his act’s exit, and that he said: “Well tonight was an absolute… I could not believe it.

Melanie’s had a great week. I’m just really disappointed on her. I’m so sad doing go so early. This competition never does not shock me.
