Melanie Masson was eliminated in the X Factor. The 44-year-old contestant had become the second act to depart the competition this year after she was put into the bottom two alongside District.
Masson sang ‘Stay With Me’, a success for Bette Midler and Duffy, inside a bid to stay in the show, battling from the boyband’s version of ‘I Do It for You‘.
However, she was eliminated following the judges failed to reach a big part decision and it visited Deadlock.
Turning to the judges following the contestants’ performances, presenter Dermot O’Leary asked them who they wish to send home.
Walsh said hello was “an amazing sing-off”, before voting in order to save his own act District3 and send Masson home.
Tulisa said the acts were “completely different – but both very talented” as well as voted to send home Masson.
Barlow dicated to send home District 3, saving his act Masson.
Scherzinger had the deciding vote, and dicated to send District3 home using the decision to Deadlock.
Masson ended up being eliminated, having received the fewest quantity of public votes.
Following the news was announced, Barlow asserted he was “gutted” and “really disappointed” for his act.
Asked by X Factor presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs how she felt about leaving the show, Masson said: “I’m fine.
